Houndstooth is a print I adore but haven’t worn or owned until now. I scored this jacket for only $20 from Marshalls over the holidays. Although houndstooth is a nice departure print from polka dots, it seems like more of a winter and cold weather print.
Houndstooth Blazer: $20, Marshalls
Ruffle Tank: $11, on clearance at Target
Black Pencil Skirt: $49.50, LOFT
Black Pumps: $0 (from my Marshalls Miami trip)
Green Earrings: $12, So Good Boutique in NYC
Total Outfit: $92.40
Dress, Jacket, Flats
Do you think houndstooth is a seasonal print? Or can it work year-round?
I was traveling a lot last month and my first stop was southern California. The weather was beautiful and it gave me a chance to experiment with different shades and prints.
This outfit was sort of an accident, but I kind of love it. I planned on the weather being a lot cooler and the sweaters I packed stayed in my suitcase (that is my unnecessary jacket in the back).
Polka Dot Tunic: $16, Marshalls
Grey Jeans: $20, Target
Sunglasses: $5, Stein Mart
Purse: $12, on clearance at Target
Cognac Boots: $74, on sale at DSW
Would you wear gray, cognac and polka dots together?
What is a combo you thought wouldn’t work at first and then tried and loved?
I love the bauble necklace and finally broke down and bought one (I know I’m a year or so late on the trend). I think the bauble necklace is going to define this fashion era. Much like how Doc Martens represent the 90’s and poodle skirts represent the 50’s, I think the bauble necklace will be remembered as the trend of the 2010’s.

Do you own a bauble necklace? What new trend do you think will represent this decade?
When I realized I didn’t have any print pencil skirts in my closet, I went on a hunt for one. This resulted in me buying four of them. You can never be too careful, right?
So far, I got the most use out of this particular pencil skirt I purchased from Marshalls for $18. The animal print is very neutral and pairs well with other neutrals as well as bright colors.
I realize I’m posing almost exactly the same in each photo. Maybe I need to switch it up a bit? Next time, I’ll bend my left arm.
Find Animal Print Skirts:
Michael Kors ($39), MICHAEL Michael Kors ($37), Ann Taylor ($88)
Do you own any animal print skirts? Do you get a lot of use out of them? How do you style them?
I forgot how fabulous a basic blazer, t-shirt and jeans can look! I wore this outfit to dinner recently and loved how chic and comfortable I felt.
A simple outfit like a blazer, tee and jeans can serve as a canvas to get really creative with accessories. I took advantage of this canvas to wear my new statement necklace and aztec print clutch.

White Tee: $5, Material Girl on clearance at Macy’s
Statement Necklace: $7 on clearance at New York and Company (scored this on Black Friday)

What’s your favorite way to dress up a t-shirt and jeans?
I wore this holiday dress to a party last week. I bought this at Marshalls while on my Miami Marshalls Casting Call trip in October. I didn’t have any holiday party plans at the time, but I’ve been looking for a lace dress that was flattering and in my budget for quite some time.
There is something about the holidays that makes me want to wear red, green, gold and silver (not necessarily all together). I also love the excuse to wear sparkles and sequins. I wish I had the reason to wear a holiday dress more often!
Holiday Dress: $19.99, Marshalls
Headband: $8, Target
Silver Belt: $6, Forever 21
Earrings: $0, birthday gift (but they were from Banana Republic)
Black Cocktail Ring: $6, Target
Lined Tights: $10, DSW
Black Pumps: $0, got them on my Miami Marshalls trip
Leopard Clutch: $13, Target (really old)
Total Outfit: $62.99

I’m so excited to finally share with you the final pictures from my Marshalls photo shoot. I recently won the Marshalls Casting Call contest and traveled to Miami for a shopping spree, photo shoot and fashion show. If you haven’t read my posts on the trip you can check them our here: Day 1, Day 2, Day 3.
My travelers and I got to try on designer outfits provided by a professional stylist. After selecting an outfit (which we got to keep), we were sent to a local studio to get our hair and makeup done and get ready for our close up. It was an exciting day that I’ll never forget!
I took this opportunity to go all out with my ensemble and wear something very editorial. It was the epitome of playing dress up. My outfit included DKNY jeans and Sergio Rossi pumps (I know, I know).
Me with the two fabulous ladies I got to take on the trip!
As stated before, this outfit is never one I would wear in real life. The pieces individually, however, are really strong and I’ve been able to create tons of real-life looks with them.

Once again, a big THANK YOU goes out to the Marshalls team for an unforgettable experience!
How would you style your personal photo shoot? Would you wear a classic outfit or something more editorial?
The last day of the Miami Marshalls trip was both relaxing and exciting. We spent the first part of the day relaxing at the gorgeous Fontainebleau Hotel. It has a beautiful private beach with a boardwalk and multiple pools.
After lunch, we checked out and were picked up to attend the final Fabulous Found Fashion Tour. We were able to see all the latest fashions and play in their virtual dressing rooms.
It was very hot (typical Miami weather), so I’m glad I wore this lightweight striped shirt and polka dot skirt.
I also got the chance to meet Carmen from Viva Fashion and properly display my love for Marshalls.
We had a little time to spare before my flight, so what did we do? Went shopping at Marshalls. I scored a red lace dress and tan sheer camp shirt both under $40! Can’t wait to style these new pieces.
A huge THANK YOU to Marshalls and the team for selecting me as their Casting Call winner and treating me like a VIP! This is a trip I will never forget and I will remain a loyal Marshalls fan forever!
Day 2 of the Marshalls Miami trip was something from a dream. It was so fabulous, I’m still not sure it actually happened to me in real life. We were picked up from the hotel and taken to the local Marshalls store where we were met by two professional stylists. We went through racks of the latest trends to choose an outfit for our photo session.
We tried on tons of outfits until we found ones we loved. Each outfit reflected our unique sense of personal style. My outfit is definitely editorial and a little out of the box – even for me. I will wait to share the final looks when I get the official photos from Marshalls, but my outfit does include a Badgley Mishcka bag and Sergio Rossi pumps…all of which I got to keep after the shoot!
After the styling session, we were taken to a studio in Miami’s Wynwood arts district. Every building had beautiful art that transformed the district into an entire art museum.
There was a big J in the studio. Coincidence? I don’t think so.
Once we were at the studio, we each got our hair and makeup done by professionals and then dressed in our Marshalls outfits for the shoot! We took individual shots as well as group shots in the studio and we even took some photos on a rooftop in front of the gorgeous Miami skyline.
After a long day of shopping, pampering and modeling, we returned back to the hotel to get ready for dinner. We decided to keep our hair and makeup on from the shoot, but I changed into one of my favorite Marshalls tops and skinny black jeans. I’m also wearing the Sergio Rossi pumps I scored at the photo shoot.
It was truly a day I will never forget!
I still can’t believe that I was the winner of the Marshalls Casting Call Contest as a part of their Fabulous Fashion Found Tour! My trip to Miami was truly amazing and I got enjoy it all in celebrity style.
On day one, I was picked up at the airport and taken to the Fontainebleau hotel on Miami Beach to meet up with my sister and cousin. We were greeted with champagne and goodie bags in our suite.
Our room had a view of the beach AND inter-coastal with the downtown Miami skyline.
After seeing the sights of our beautiful hotel, we hit the town and had a scrumptious sushi dinner. I wore one of my favorite Marshalls dresses to celebrate.
Day one was fun, but days two and three were even better. Can’t wait to share details soon!
