Casual Friday Argyle Sweater

Although it’s technically spring, we’ve had a few cold snaps in Florida allowing me to still wear layers and boots. I’ve always been on the fence about argyle sweaters.  I’ve debated this before here.

Sometimes, I love them and other times, I feel like I belong on a golf course. Whether you love or hate argyle, the print works well for casual Friday at the office.

J9 Outfit: Casual Friday Edition

It’s Friday! And that means it’s time to sport another casual Friday look. I recently acquired this fun cardigan a few weeks ago and it feeds my stripes obsession. Another part of this look that I love is that it has the slightest hint of fall. Sweaters and boots, here we come! This outfit also reminded me of back-to-school time and is something I would wear if I were in school (well, I am in grad school, but that doesn’t really count).

Cardigan: $16, Dots

Purple Tee: $5, on clearance at Old Navy

Raspberry Belt: $3.48, on clearance at Target

Jeans: $8, on clearance at Target

Outfits on the Cheap: Pool Party

I’ve missed a few Casual Friday outfit posts, but hopefully this one will get you ready for the weekend! It’s great when you have friends that really get your style. For my birthday, I received some wonderful gifts from my friends including accessories and clothes. I love it when I hear “I saw this and thought of you!”

I wore this summer outfit to a pool party recently. Every item in this outfit except the flip-flops and sunglasses is a gift from a friend.

Dress/Cover-Up: $0, Target (gift)

Necklace: $0, gift from friend

Sunglasses: $10, Target

Flip-Flops: $4, Old Navy

Outfits on the Cheap: Off to the Beach

Normally on Fridays I post a casual Friday office look. But since all I can think about is the weekend and future summer beach days, I decided to share what I wore to the beach last weekend. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you’ll know that I have an irrational love for ridiculous hats (see hat posts here and here). This beach outfit is proof of my obsession. Since it was a very windy day, the floppy hat did not photograph too well, but trust me, it is fabulous!

Summer Dress: $9.99, Marshalls

Fabulous Hat: $14.99, Target

Sunglasses: $9.99 Target

Flip-Flops: $4, Old Navy (I usually NEVER wear flip-flops, even to the beach)

Total Outfit: $38.97

Would you wear a larger-than-life hat this summer?

Casual Fridays: Blah

Do you ever have one of those days when no matter what you put on you feel “blah”? I was creatively challenged this casual Friday morning and couldn’t get inspired. I decided to be happy with what I had on and leave to get to work on time.

Jeans: $20, Old Navy

Necklace: $10, Target

Silver Stud Earrings: $10, Target

Happy Friday, the 13th!

Outfits on the Cheap: Triple Threat

I don’t have a casual Friday look since I was on vacation last Friday, but this one is pretty close to one. In this outfit, I’m rocking thee different trends: bold color, animal print, and a statement necklace. All of the items in this outfit are old except for this wonderful necklace I got while in NYC. It’s from a store called So Good Jewelry and they have unique accessories at affordable prices. This was on sale for only $17! They have stores all over the country, but I couldn’t find their website.

Occasion: Running Errands

Jacket: $30, H&M

Black Tee: $10, Old Navy

Jeans: $8, on clearance at Target

Necklace: $17, So Good

Leopard Flats: $18, Target

Total Outfit: $83

Have you heard of So Good Jewelry? Have you ever been to their stores?

Outfits on the Cheap: Casual Friday Flats

I plan to wear my fabulous black suede booties with this outfit, but my feet were hurting too much from walking all over in heels the day before. I normally don’t wear flats to work because I’m on the short side and have to look up to almost everyone I talk to.

Jacket: $21, boutique in NYC

Flower Tank: $14, Old Navy

Jeans: $20, Old Navy

Flats: $12, on clearance at Target

Necklace: $9, on sale at Target

Total Outfit: $76

Do you wear flats to work?

Happy Friday?

Outfits on the Cheap: Family Fun with Stripes

My family came to visit last weekend and we went to the local theme parks. The weather was perfect with a high of 75 degrees. This outfit kept me warm in the morning and was cool enough for the afternoon. But most importantly, it helped make me feel like a kid again.

Skinny Jeans: $15 , Old Navy

Green Watch: $20, Sacramento Airport Gift Shop

Pinstripe Sneakers: $20, Target

Messenger Purse: $17, Flea Market

Do you have an outfit or particular piece of clothing that makes you feel like a kid?

By the way, for my social media class, we have to start a blog on a topic we enjoy. Since I already have one, my assignment is to step it up! I have many new things planned for J9 STYLE including: more posts, vlogs, Q&A, and more. I’m so excited!

I combined two fall trends in this outfit: animal print and cobalt. It turned out to be a fun work outfit that I received a lot of compliments on.

Cobalt Skirt: $0, received at a rags-to-riches party, but you can find one at Target here

Outfits on the Cheap: Winter Blues

Here is an outfit I wore to work then a 3-hour car ride out of town. It’s my first winter outfit of the season. And yes, the high was like 73 degrees, but that’s considered winter to some people here. I’m blue that it’s not colder yet and I can’t wear my new riding boots as often as I’d like to. I am in love with my new riding boots. It’s true that I don’t actually ride horses, but they are so comfy and totally transform the outfit.

Occasion: Work, then travel

Blueish Dress: $20, Old Navy

Black Tights: $6, Charlotte Russe

Riding Boots: $25, Ross

Black Necklace: $10, Target

Silver Necklace: $6, on clearance at Target

Total Outfit: $67

Are you a fan of riding boots? Do you own pair? If so, where did you get them?
