Always Time for Vintage

With my crazy work load and grad school projects coming to a close, I haven’t been able to tend to my precious blog or satisfy my shopping cravings. I’m going through fashion blogging withdrawal! To ease the ache, I attended the Vintage Clothing and Vinyl Record Affair at one of my favorite boutiques Retromended. It was a fun event to celebrate vintage fashion and music and hang with fellow bloggers.

Casual Friday Argyle Sweater

Although it’s technically spring, we’ve had a few cold snaps in Florida allowing me to still wear layers and boots. I’ve always been on the fence about argyle sweaters.  I’ve debated this before here.

Sometimes, I love them and other times, I feel like I belong on a golf course. Whether you love or hate argyle, the print works well for casual Friday at the office.

Polka Dots and Cognac

I was traveling a lot last month and my first stop was southern California. The weather was beautiful and it gave me a chance to experiment with different shades and prints.

This outfit was sort of an accident, but I kind of love it. I planned on the weather being a lot cooler and the sweaters I packed stayed in my suitcase (that is my unnecessary jacket in the back).

Polka Dot Tunic: $16, Marshalls

Grey Jeans: $20, Target

Sunglasses: $5, Stein Mart

Purse: $12, on clearance at Target

Cognac Boots: $74, on sale at DSW

Total: $127

Would you wear gray, cognac and polka dots together?

What is a combo you thought wouldn’t work at first and then tried and loved?

Lace Tights and Head-to-Toe Black

Because I love color and prints so much, I rarely ever dress in all black. I wore this outfit to a bachelorette/bridal send-off party recently and the weather was cool enough to warrant tights and a light jacket. Lace tights are a busy print, so I decided to keep the rest of the look minimal so the tights were the main focus. I couldn’t help but add a dash of color with a simple necklace.

Basic Blazer and T-Shirt

I forgot how fabulous a basic blazer, t-shirt and jeans can look! I wore this outfit to dinner recently and loved how chic and comfortable I felt.

A simple outfit like a blazer, tee and jeans can serve as a canvas to get really creative with accessories. I took advantage of this canvas to wear my new statement necklace and aztec print clutch.

J9 Outfits: White After Labor Day

I realize I’m wearing white after Labor Day, but I think most of you will agree that this rule is old-fashioned. If wearing white after labor day is wrong, then I don’t want to be right!I wore this recently to a local food truck bazaar. Although I love the end result, wearing white shorts really isn’t the smartest choice for an outdoor food event. I love white clothes, but I’m really too much of a klutz to not spill anything.

Shirt: $12.99, Marshalls  (similar here)

Shorts: $20, Target (similar here)

Stacked Bracelets: $15, various places

Watch: $19.99, Sacramento Airport

Have you jumped on the Food Truck trend yet? How do you feel about wearing white after Labor Day?

J9 Outfit: Casual Friday Edition

It’s Friday! And that means it’s time to sport another casual Friday look. I recently acquired this fun cardigan a few weeks ago and it feeds my stripes obsession. Another part of this look that I love is that it has the slightest hint of fall. Sweaters and boots, here we come! This outfit also reminded me of back-to-school time and is something I would wear if I were in school (well, I am in grad school, but that doesn’t really count).

Cardigan: $16, Dots

Raspberry Belt: $3.48, on clearance at Target

I’ve missed a few Casual Friday outfit posts, but hopefully this one will get you ready for the weekend! It’s great when you have friends that really get your style. For my birthday, I received some wonderful gifts from my friends including accessories and clothes. I love it when I hear “I saw this and thought of you!”

I wore this summer outfit to a pool party recently. Every item in this outfit except the flip-flops and sunglasses is a gift from a friend.

Outfits on the Cheap: Beer Anniversary

You read the headline right. I celebrated an anniversary for beer. The other weekend we went out with some friends for dinner and then to World of Beer to celebrate their second year anniversary. Any excuse to drink beer, right?

The weather was really hot and the event was outside, so I chose a lightweight dress and wore my hair up in an attempt to stay cool.

Striped Dress: $17.99, Target

Blue Necklace: $10, on clearance from JC Penney

Tan Wedges: $22, Macy’s

Celebrating Beer: $0

Total Outfit: $49.99

I love attending random events (like when I went to a bacon event). What events have you been to lately?
